Closing my blog for a while

Could be for a month or two but I have to concentrate on getting packed. I find it very difficult to focus on one thing so I must turn off all other activities till I'm done.

Yes, I'll be back but the blog will be on 'friends only' during that time, which I probably should do anyways. I won't be visiting, reading or commenting….just concentrating on packing, cleaning, throwing out. I don't seem to be making much headway here yet….just one box at a time…but at the moment it doesn't seem to have made a dent. Eventually it will be done and I'll be ready to load a truck.

Several things have transpired but I won't go into details. The move could be as soon as next month. Oooops, tomorrow is next month. Well, possibly by the end of July. A very hot time to be moving in Phoenix but the further north we get, the cooler it will be. Just hope my old Camie will make the move. CJ will be fine and I'll probably keep her a little sedated. Have never liked doing that but anyone who has ever had a Min Pin will know how squirrelly they can be.

I'll miss you all. See you in a while.

City Center Motel (built in 1958) Would love to find out who the architect was. This is a photo I took on the way from ASU to a job I had in South Phoenix several years ago. If you notice, the photo is taken from inside my car. Not really a good area to be roaming around but it has some great mid-century designed motels along this street. Especially not a street to be walking at night that's for sure.

About pam

I am retired from real 9 to 5 jobs. I do my artwork and occasionally write poetry. In September 2010, I moved to Fargo, ND after spending 60 years in Phoenix, Arizona. Now, five years later, July 2015, I'm back in Arizona. And yes, I love the heat!

It was so good to hear from you again, Pam. I'm very glad to learn that you've made so much progress and that you'll be on your way soon. I do hope you get a cheap digital camera. You need to take at least a few photos to document your journey!I can imagine that seeing the bricks pulled up was hard, but you've got the right attitude (good that you remembered that Pink Floyd song ).

Carol and Jan: Thank you.Tom: Love the smiling Buddha graphic. Both my daughter and I want to get a large one for her garden. I'd wanted one for mine but never found one at the second hand stores.Deb: Yes, can't wait. I'll be on my way soon. Would you believe I was actually thinking of loading the bricks and taking them with me. Haha. Darko and Star: Thank you. Looking forward to getting settled and being back here on a regular basis. Scott: What is it about books? I've even given away some of my art books. Couldn't believe I'd ever do that. But they went to two art teachers who teach at high schools. I felt good about that. A few of my others will go to a good artist friend. Jill: Thanks. Yes, I've been taking care. I pace myself and take lots of rests.I'll be home all day today because the tow truck is coming for my car to take to the mechanic. Went to use it yesterday to take the books to Goodwill but it wouldn't go into gear. I thought, this is too damn new to be the transmission! The mechanic said it probably wasn't but Chrysler cars sometimes have problems with the gear shift getting locked up. Good thing it happened now and not on the road. I'd hate to be stuck somewhere! Cha-ching $$$!!!

I have been taking some books to Half-priced books. You get very little money for them, but it is psychologically easier to do this than throwing the books away, plus it is easier than trying to match up every book with a friend (though it sounds like you were able to easily match a few of your art books with friends.)

Pam, inspite of the physical hardship of my life, (I think I'm just starting to reawaken from dormancy ), yours sounds way too hectic for me to handle. I get worried just reading about it! Lightening and floods I can handle, but, not having to leave my vehicle to someone elses care! I don't know what I'll ever do if I buy one again!:yikes:I'm wishing you the best of luck at every thing!Take care.
