This, that and the other

One of the few pics I took while visiting my friend in Munds Park up in Northern Arizona.

The above small field of flowers was right next to the fire department.

While in North Dakota last month, I took one photo of the drapes I made for my daughter the year before. Someone asked to see them. I think it was Jill. The other sets were gold and in sage green. The burgundy was my favorite.

Several weeks ago, my brother took me for a ride in his BMW convertible…or maybe it's a Mercedes. I get them mixed up. We had some clam chowder at a small restaurant then went to a local car show that occurs every Friday night at a store parking lot. The light wasn't too good and I didn't have my flash so I adjusted the photos a bit. The first one reminds me of a 1920's mobster hangout.

This roadster I just thought was cool.

The engine even more cool.

Last but not least….the people. Loved these two guys. Reminded me of ZZ Top. This photo was horribly out of focus so I messed with this one too. Still not satisfied but it gave me an idea for a future painting. If you notice the car handle and a light reflection near the man's mouth, it looks like he has a flaming cigar. 😆 Perfect, as far as I'm concerned.

About pam

I am retired from real 9 to 5 jobs. I do my artwork and occasionally write poetry. In September 2010, I moved to Fargo, ND after spending 60 years in Phoenix, Arizona. Now, five years later, July 2015, I'm back in Arizona. And yes, I love the heat!

Those miniature flower fields are amazing, isn't it? I spotted one in Brăila this summer:The cars, though, I can't match. The poor lighting makes the photos more interesting.

I love those fields of wildflowers – especially the black-eyed Susans. Just wanna share with you that the Black-eyed Susan is Maryland's official state flower. Its colorful yellow-gold single petals are often two to four inches across, encircling their large black centers. It's interesting that these same colors are in Maryland's state flag ^^ GREAT post. Love it  Love your avatar

Nice post, Pam. Took me a minute, because I was looking at the wrong man, but I finally found the flaming cigar. You're right! Also love the flowers—you know me—several varieties of sunflowers there, and those large heads of pink flowers are, I think, Joepye weed. Butterflies love it.

Loved the roadster. My brother would have enjoyed going to the local car show, too. Nice brother/sister activity. And I am hoping to see the ZZ Top-like guys in a painting. :)BTW really liked your choice of drapery fabric.

That car show would have been a lot of fun. I like those '20's, '30's style vehicles.

Yup, you know me and those engines. These were all shiny though but still neat to look at. Usually, I like the old greasy ones.

Me too Linda, thanks. I have a packet of wild flowers I just might plant in the front yard. Will wait a month or two, at least till February is over.

Me too, even the clothes from that time but, of course, no one was dressed that way. Just a bunch of guys sitting there beaming with their "babies".

12 years ago, I used to live very close to the parking lot this is held. It must have just started up, just a few guys and their antique cars. Now there's 30 to 40 cars every single Friday night. My daughter had bought all of the fabric before I arrived, yards and yards of it. The burgundy ones are ten feet long and the gold ones are 12 feet. They were easy to do, just straight stitching.

Thanks Angeliki. Wish the flowers would last a little longer where I am. This little field garden belongs to the firemen. Originally posted by ellinidata:

Yep, I think I used it at the very beginning. Since it's December, I thought the red chair behind be would look the season. Come to think of it, it looks like I'm in a throne. 😆

Me too. The smaller cities and towns must get all the older trucks. Just wish at least one fireman would have come out. Darn it.

Hi Scott. I love that garden. Wish flowers lasted longer than a month in Phoenix. The guy with the black hat in the foreground…the car door handle and a light reflection is right near his mouth making it look like the flaming cigar.

Too many flowers for a winter 😀

  47. PainterWoman says:

Darko, now this area is covered with snow. I think I took this in late May or early June. Can't remember exactly. The firemen take care of this small field garden.

  48. gdare says:

Snow storm outside my window at the moment 😀

  49. pthhieubilly says:

It's sunny so nice here 😀

  50. PainterWoman says:

It's sunny here too Billy and about 54F. Last week there was a big wind and rain storm where I live and lots of snow 200 miles up north in the mountains. The two ski lodges will be open soon. I don't ski anymore.
