What to do with that left over turkey

Simply make turkey chili!

Las Palmas Turkey Chili

2 T oil (use the good oil w/ no trans fat)
1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 – 10oz can Las Palmas Red Chili Sauce
2 – 15oz cans Las Palmas Chili Beans
1- 12oz jar Green Chili Salsa
3 Cups diced cooked turkey meat

garnish w/ a dollop of sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese

Heat oil in Dutch oven; add onion, green pepper and garlic. Sauté over medium heat until veggies are tender. Stir in Red Chili Sauce, Beans, Green Chili Salsa and turkey. Bring to boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 20 min. Serves 6.

I did not put the shredded cheese on mine but the sour cream was nice as it took the bite out of the spiciness.

I got this recipe from a can of Las Palmas Chili Beans. I have used other brands of everything but I like Las Palmas the best.

The trip to Fargo was fast and furious with lots of cooking, eating, and talking with family and good friends. A great time was had by all. Will have more pictures at a later date but will share one new updated photo of my Kathy's baby belly:
No, it's not a too much turkey belly, it's a baby belly! Hahahaha.

Plus, I thought I'd share an old family photo from either Thanksgiving or Christmas around 1975. I no longer have that red plaid suit. What was I thinking?! :

My sister, mother, Aunt Ruby, brother, me, my son Mike, my dad

About pam

I am retired from real 9 to 5 jobs. I do my artwork and occasionally write poetry. In September 2010, I moved to Fargo, ND after spending 60 years in Phoenix, Arizona. Now, five years later, July 2015, I'm back in Arizona. And yes, I love the heat!

I remember those too. Never had any but the guys seemed to like wearing them. Just got an email from a double cousin of mine who lives in Mississippi (I think). She reads my blog sometimes and saw my plaid suit and sent me a picture of her wearing a red plaid jacket from 1975. Styles always seem to make their way back every 20 years or so. I wonder if red plaid will.

    hmm I love kebab 🙂

Maryam: Have never tried turkey kabobs, only chicken, shrimp or beef. It seems the turkey meat always come off in too small of pieces to use in kabobs. Stefan: I love kabobs too.EasyD: It is very delicious. I prefer white meat but in the above chili recipe or in any soup I make, both white and dark meat go in. I can hardly wait for the birth of my first grandchild.

  4. EasyD44 says:

Sounds delicious! Does it matter what kind of Turkey you use? Do you prefer white or dark? Good luck with the baby!

  5. toridei says:

Let's put on the BeeGees and dance. I have another photo of that plaid suit. I think I'll use it in my Christmas post later in the month. Hi Maryam!

I have some Pics of me in my Blue Leisure Suit that we used with one of the Bands I played with. With the Platform Shoes of course. 😎 :headbang:

We can handle the truth. Can you, Suntana?

  14. L2D2 says:

He runs like a turkey when you force him into a corner (that's a bit of mixed metaphor, but you know what I mean)

  15. Suntana says:

Actually, I might NOT be able to handle the truth that that's what I wore at one time! :insane:Nah! Only a few guys could pull off wearing Leisure Suits and look Cool … and I was one of the Few, the Proud … Hmmm? Wait a minute. Isn't that the U. S. Marines slogan? 😆

  16. L2D2 says:

Just like other fashions we wouldn't like to see AGAIN—leisure suits looked good in their day. When everyone is wearing the same style, it doesn't look so bad! I'll bet you were a cutie then in your plaid leisure suit, Chuck.

  17. L2D2 says:

Oh, OK, Chuck. My mistake. Navy blue leisure suit. Woot! 😆

  18. Suntana says:

Hey. Heyyy! Heyyyyy! I never said it was plaid. I said it was BLUE.It was SOLID Navy Blue.

  19. debplatt says:

Suntana: Did you look like this?

  20. L2D2 says:

I'll bet he never let his hair get that long.

Hmmm. The 1990's were kind of late for the whole leisure-suit look. At any rate, I'm sorry you found yourself working for such a turkey (you're putting it kindly).Japanese women retained a fondness for platform shoes long after they disappeared elsewhere.

  22. debplatt says:

And what about that bling? I'm under the impression that gold ornaments about the neck were part of the open-shirt look. That's how I remember it…

  23. PainterWoman says:

It's funny, but the pic of the guy in the blue leisure suit reminds me of a former boss from ten years ago. Only he was in his sixties, about 50 lbs heavier, colored and permed his hair, wore silk shirts and gold chains. He sauntered around like George Jefferson and was one the most foul mouthed dishonest people I ever knew. He was definitely a turkey. Won't go into anymore details about him except that I called the CEO of a large company to report him, then walked out. Oh, and I DO remember those platform shoes. Used to wear them all the time. Made me almost 6 ft. tall.

  24. Suntana says:

:yikes: Deb, Photoshop the Leisure Suit Navy Blue and it's pretty close! :insane:Alright! Who blabbed? Who's been peeking in my Pics? How did the White Shoes and White Belt Top Secret get out? What's weird is that I didn't quite remember (How convenient) that I indeed also had another Leisure Suit that very exact same color! :eyes: The one that Light Blue color was one that only I had, NOT the one worn by all the musicians in that one Band. But, I did at one point :left: :right: wear the White Shoes & White Belt with it. :yikes: 😮 I distinctly remember almost falling down deadsmack in the middle of the dance floor while wearing that light-colored Suit. We had just finished setting up for our Gig. While we waited for Showtime, I decided to go get a beer and / or go to the restroom. I was walking across the empty dance floor and my Right Platform Shoe slipped forward! I just barely managed to salvage my balance and avoid some serious embarrassment. And of course, I did the ole pretending like nothing happened. :whistle:Oh, and NO, I don't now nor have I ever had curly hair or whatever Rat's Nest that guy has. :lol:And I've never been one for Bling. Heck, I never even had a High School Graduation Ring. I'm NOT into Rings at all.

  25. PainterWoman says:

Oh WOW! Mine were 3 in max. I'd kill myself too wearing those. When walking down stairs, I always hold onto the railings because I've fallen down stairs twice. And this was 30 yrs ago in flat sandals. Luckily, I bounced just two steps and only bruised my butt. I stopped wearing the sandals because they were slick on the bottom and they would slide right over this smooth steel tip at the edge of each step.

Ouch! I'm glad you weren't seriously injured.I used to love inline skating, but gave it up because I did fall occasionally and now as a post-menopausal woman, I'm wondering if I'd end up breaking my hip. I should probably get one of those bone scan readings that say whether your bones are still strong.

  27. Suntana says:

Whoa! Skyscraper Platforms! :yikes: Didn't the Band Kiss used to wear those … or higher ones?Heyyy! Platform Ugg Boots. 😆

  28. debplatt says:

Oh no! I'm so out of it that I didn't realize that "man cleavage" is coming back into fashion, or so says this article.

  29. PainterWoman says:

I do love those Ugg boots and, yes, Kiss wore platform boots. Have no idea how they clomped around on stage they way they did. Man cleavage…. 😆 First thing I thought of was the plumber that came to my house once.

  30. Suntana says:

Male décolletage … Heavage. 😆 3 buttons undone, Eh?A thick forest of hair? :jester:
